OMG, you guys, my husband started construction this afternoon on one of the raised beds for the garden! I will admit that I was a tad skeptical at first — the design that he described sounded a little bit like the old raised beds, which only lasted two seasons and now they are busted. I didn’t want him to spend all this time building beds just to have them meet the same fate as my originals. But it looks like he has solved the problem!
So here’s his backyard construction site setup:
Now those are sawhorses! At least I think they are pretty cool looking…
And he finished one of the beds!
How amazing is this?!!!?? It’s enormous! And looks so professional — I am impressed.
We put the new bed in the garden just to check out possible placement. It will look so fabulous. And now he’s thinking about building me a third raised bed — I could have three huge raised beds this summer! Now I have to figure out how we are going to lug all that darn soil into the yard to fill these beds…but that’s a problem for another day.
Right now I am super excited that I’ll have new solid beds this year. Last year I had to lean a 2X4 against the side of one of the broken beds so the soil wouldn’t spill out. That didn’t work out so well. But this year is looking up!
